Pi Kappa Phi Fraternity is a value-based membership development organization that focuses on building brotherhood through character enhancement, leadership development, academic achievement, commitment to service, lifelong friendship and social experiences. We are looking to extend invitations to join our fraternity of leaders. One of these could be you.
Pi Kappa Phi develops men of character. A man of true character lives by a set of values and demonstrates personal integrity and ultimate respect, ensuring his actions reflect positively upon every member of the fraternity. Founded in the South, we strive to be known as the “true gentlemen” of NSU.
Pi Kappa Phi was founded to create leadership opportunities; therefore, we believe that leadership is a choice rather than an action. The fraternity also expects that members will commit to a lifetime of leadership in their workplace and community. Pi Kappa Phi offers some of the most innovative leadership development programs in the interfraternal world, including Pi Kapp College for Chapter Officers and Pi Kapp College for Emerging Leaders. Our members gain well-rounded, broadening views through involvement in numerous campus organizations, including Freshman Connectors, Homecoming court, ROTC, NSU Crew, SGA, University Programming Council (UPC), and the Spirit of Northwestern.
For most people achievement is the equivalent of success, which comes in many forms and places. Members of Pi Kappa Phi strive to emulate our founders’ pursuit of excellence, which brings credit to the fraternity. Our chapter’s network of alumni connects members to mentoring opportunities with hundreds of successful professionals. Pi Kapps also excel on the field. Participating on our sports teams allows our members a great opportunity to build brotherhood, sportsmanship and enjoy their time outside of the classroom.
Student members are encouraged to attain the highest possible standards of academic achievement, supported by our academic success resources. Several NSU faculty members are Pi Kappa Phi alumni and provide individualized advising and help cultivate intellectual curiosity. In 2008, an alumnus of the Beta Omicron Chapter established a scholarship that rewards our members who excel in academics, employment, and leadership. Since its inception our members have received more than $50,000 to further their education! Our alumni also sponsor an annual scholarship for incoming freshman and another for first-generation college students.
Service to others is the key to building a better world, and our members distinguish themselves through The Ability Experience. Pi Kappa Phi prides itself on remaining the only national fraternity to establish and maintain its own national philanthropy, which works to redefine the way society views both people with disabilities and fraternities. Our members consistently raise more than $2,000 each year for The Ability Experience. From cross-country cycling treks to building accessible facilities, our commitment to service involves answering the call to lifelong civic engagement on NSU’s campus and in the Natchitoches community.
Pi Kappa Phi also provides among the best opportunities for social development on campus. Each semester we have multiple exchanges with sororities, our annual spring Rose Ball formal, crawfish boils, various brotherhood events, road trips, and cookouts. Our house is a mainstay within our chapter, where social and brotherhood events take place, as well as weekly chapter meetings. We also offer the only live-in fraternity house where NSU scholarships and other financial aid can be used toward rent.
Still, we pride ourselves in the most important aspect of fraternity, lifelong brotherhood. Pi Kappa Phi has initiated over 650 members at Northwestern State University in the fraternity’s nearly 70-year history on campus. Its successful alumni are involved with the college in numerous ways, including members of the NSU Alumni Association Board of Directors, several faculty & staff members, and members of NSU prestigious Long Purple Line. Beta Omicron Chapter alumni include successful CEOs, CFOs, state legislators, mayors and city leaders, educators and coaches, attorneys, military officers, news anchors, political consultants, financial advisors, ministers, Hollywood actors, law enforcement, celebrated chefs, small business owners, and health care professionals spread throughout the country and the world. We are looking to add to this legacy of producing successful individuals through a well-rounded collegiate experience.
Our goal is to create uncommon opportunities, allowing you to become an exceptional leader. Guests always sense something unique when they visit our house. Here, they feel comfortable, not fake.
