Homecoming 2007: Looking to the Future

Pi Kapp intramurals off to a strong start

intramurals-fall-20071The Pi Kappa Phi Intramural sports teams are demonstrating consistent strength across the board.  Tennis was solid this semester as Cody Bourque beat out the other Greeks, placing second in the multi-round elimination. The volleyball season also ended with a Pi Kappa Phi second place finish.  Brandon Ray also placed second in the 3 point shootout, edging out the other Fraternity contestants. The football season is proving to be a bright spot as the boys in blue and gold won their fifth game to stay undefeated at 5-0. Chapter builds brotherhood through semi-annual campout

campout-fall-2007Taking a break from the stresses of schoolwork, members of Pi Kappa Phi traveled to Kisatchie National Forest on October 19, 2007.  The chapter’s semi-annual Brotherhood Retreat gave the chapter an opportunity to bring the associate members closer to the active brothers.  No campout would be complete without grilling burgers and hot dogs, telling stories around a fire, and the coveted game of capture the flag.  The associate members put forth an outstanding effort, but the active members were able to edge by, claiming victory again this semester.

Push America hires Beta Omicron alumnus to assist chapters

rodney-clementsRodney Clements, Beta Omicron (Northwestern State University), will serve as Push America’s new Director of Chapter Services and will work closely with chapters to help take Push America to the next level of service throughout universities across the country.

Push America added Clements to the staff in early September where he will be working with chapters on their Push America fundraising, volunteerism and awareness.

“I am thrilled to be a part of the Push America team,” Clements said, “and even more excited for the opportunity to work with undergraduate chapters of Pi Kappa Phi in the coming years.”

Clements is a recent graduate of Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, Louisiana, where he obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism. As an undergraduate, Clements served as the Push America Chairman, Historian and Archon of his chapter. As a 2007 Journey of Hope team member, Clements served as the Public Relations Coordinator for the Trans America route. Read the rest of this entry
