
Mitchell Mayfield, a Junior member of Pi Kappa Phi Fraternity, has been elected president of the Northwestern State University Interfraternity Council (IFC).
The governing body exists to perpetuate the best interests of the six fraternity organizations it represents. It is dedicated to academic achievement, service to the Northwestern and the Natchitoches communities, as well as to the development of leadership through educational programming. The IFC aids chapters in the areas of recruitment, risk management, academic, service, public relations, financial and educational programming.
“My main goal for the IFC in the upcoming year is to strengthen the relationships between all chapters in our community and to grow interest and participation in Greek Life at NSU,” Mayfield said.
The Denham Springs, Louisiana native just completed a highly successful term as the president of the Beta Omicron Chapter of Pi Kappa Phi and is also involved on campus as an NSU Presidential ambassador and a JOVE scholar.
Mayfield is currently training to participate in the Journey of Hope, a cross-country cycling trek designed raise funds and awareness for people with disabilities through the fraternity’s philanthropy, The Ability Experience.
Beta Omicron Chapter member Owen Stutzman, a sophomore from Gonzales, Louisiana, was also elected IFC Vice President of Recruitment.
