Percy Alexander Little, one of the early leaders of the Beta Omicron chapter of Pi Kappa Phi Fraternity at Northwestern State University, died March 31, 2016 in Bastrop, Louisiana.
Little, a 1955 graduate of Bastrop High school and 1960 graduate of Northwestern State University, was the 33rd initiate of the Beta Omicron Chapter of Pi Kappa Phi Fraternity in March 1957, along with a pledge class of 13 others. He served as chapter Archon in Spring 1959.
Little chose a profession in the oilfield as a directional engineer working with Helmer Directional Drilling Incorporated. He was an inventor with multiple patents to his name. Percy was a co-owner of Walton and Little Direct Drilling from 1984-1988. He was also a pioneer in horizontal drilling in the Gulf of Mexico, USA, and South America and at one time held the record for a horizontal drilled well.
Percy was a member of Bethel Baptist Church and enjoyed hunting and fishing. His two grandsons Hunter and Hayden were the loves of his life.
Little is survived by his wife, Betty Carpenter Little; daughter, Christina Collinsworth and husband Chris of Macon, GA; sons, Charles Eugene Little and wife Cheryl of Sevierville, TN, Raymond Patrick Little and wife Monica of Lake Charles, LA, Jason Timothy Little of Knoxville, TN; step daughters, Debbie Rogers and husband Gale of Bastrop, LA, Lisa Hughes and husband Roy of Bastrop, LA; brothers, Nathaniel “Nat” Little and wife Janice of Bastrop, LA, Samuel Perry “Sam” Little and wife Pam of Bastrop, LA; grandchildren, Hunter Alexander Little, Hayden Thomas Little, Amanda Oakes and husband Mac, Kelsey Little; step great grandchildren, Luke Waylon Willis, Jacob Walker Willis; nephews, Reese Little, Archie Little; nieces, Christina Lucas, Clair Colvin, Cathy McGuffin and a host of other nieces, nephews and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Eugene and Dora Lou Brown Little.
A funeral was held Monday, April 4, 2016 at the Chapel of Golden Funeral Home with Bro. Tim Post officiating. Interment followed in the Beekman Cemetery.
