A weekend of reunions and activities drew Pi Kappa Phi Fraternity alumni and their families to Northwestern State University’s annual Homecoming Weekend in Natchitoches on October 21-22, 2022.
Beta Omicron Chapter alumni and students celebrated recent achievements and reconnected during reunions, tailgating and tours of the new chapter house, constructed in 2020.
After an exciting week of Homecoming activities, on Friday Pi Kappa Phi’s float joined others in a parade to the downtown riverbank stage. Then, a pep rally featured performances by the NSU cheerleaders, Demon Dazzlers, pom pon line, and the Spirit of Northwestern Marching Band; the introduction of the Homecoming Court, including Pi Kappa Phi member Jonatan Jimenez, as well as an appearance by NSU Head Football Coach Brad Laird, senior football players and the NSU mascot, Vic the Demon.
The Pi Kapps received third place among fraternity floats and second place in the food drive competition.
Saturday morning’s activities started with breakfast at the Beta Omicron chapter house across from the Northwestern State University campus. A steady stream of alumni and student members filed through the house, giving tours of the facilities and trading stories of Pi Kapp traditions and achievements.
The fun and fellowship later continued at the Demon Commons, where families and generations of alumni convened at the Pi Kapp tailgating tents. Students, alumni, and their families and friends enjoyed corn hole and flag football before heading to Turpin Stadium to cheer on the NSU Demons football team.
Senior Pi Kappa Phi member Jonatan Jimenez was also recognized at the game as Mister Northwestern State University 2022, the highest honor an NSU student can receive. He becomes the fifth Beta Omicron Chapter member named Mr. NSU since it was first awarded in 1956. The chapter’s current Rose Queen, Morgan Landry, was also named Miss NSU.
