Benny Reeves, member of Beta Omicron Chapter Founders Generation Group, passes to chapter eternal

Longtime businessman and retailer, Benny B. Reeves of Montgomery, Louisiana died Saturday, July 18, 2026.

Funeral services for Reeves, age 90, were held on Tuesday, July 21, 2026 at the Montgomery United Pentecostal Church with Rev. Donald Givens and Charlie Bice officiating. Burial followed at Mars Hill Cemetery near Montgomery.

Reeves was a member of First Baptist Church, Montgomery. He was a graduate of Montgomery High and Northwestern State and the American College of Finance, Investments and Insurance Services. He was a member of Pi Kappa Phi Fraternity at Northwestern State University, becoming the chapter’s 52nd initiate in November 1958.

Reeves was a Korean War veteran, U.S. Army, and served a 16 month tour of duty in Korea and his remaining 2 years and 6 months at Ft. Campbell, Kentucky, home of the 101st Airborne Paratroopers. After his enlistment he began his 4½ year studies at Northwestern.

Benny B. was a registered representative with the National Association of Security Dealers and a C.L.U., financial advisor and representative, agent and manager with Prudential. Most recent he was a retailer and merchant for 31 years as the owner and builder of Reeves Food Centers.

Soon after college he met and married Wadette Mary Hassien who assisted him in the insurance and investment business until his early retirement because of vision and hearing health concerns and they built and successfully managed their Reeves Food Center business for 31 years, then completely retired.

Reeves was preceded in death by his parents, Wesley B. Reeves and Leona Lang Reeves; his sisters, Betty Reeves Hale (Lealon), Peggy Claudette Reeves, Lavergn Reeves Antee (Frank), and Maxie B. Reeves Hammond (Charles). He was also preceded in death by their wonderful two little “fur babies,” “Little Girl Reeves” and “Puppy Montgomery Reeves.”

Reeves is survived by his wife of 63 years, Wadette H. Reeves; two brothers, Roger Dale Reeves (Catherine) of Cairo, Egypt, and Bobby G. Reeves (Shirley) of Montgomery; and nephews and nieces, Donnie and Judy Hale, Carl E. Hale, Larry Joe and Denise Hale, Candy Hale, Sandra B. Hale, and Judy Hammond Reeves.
