Pi Kappa Phi Fraternity students, alumni, and their families enjoyed a weekend of fun and festivities for NSU’s Homecoming Reunion on October 23-24, 2026.
Among the many highlights were the Pi Kapp students and alumni recognized for their achievements.
On Friday, Beta Omicron Chapter alumnus David D. Morgan, Sr. and wife Sherry took part in the official ribbon cutting for the David and Sherry Morgan Health Performance Center, a major investment in the future of Demon Athletics. The Morgans made a $1.5 million gift to help make the project a reality.
The annex in the Donald G. Kelly Athletic Complex includes a new 11,600 square foot weight room with space for more than 100 student-athletes, a 25-foot artificial turf pad, a new nutrition center, a student-athlete lounge and offices for the strength and conditioning staff, as well as a high-tech rehabilitation center.
Guest speakers included NSU Athletic Director Kevan Bostian and NSU Head Football Coach Blaine McCorkle, both Beta Omicron Chapter alumni.
Saturday morning began with a solemn gathering at the Beta Omicron Chapter House along Chaplin’s Lake. Following coffee and donuts, members, alumni, and friends honored the life of the chapter’s founding archon, Jack P. McCain, Jr., who passed to the Chapter Eternal last month.
Also that morning, Beta Omicron Chapter alumnus Wes Breeden was inducted into the NSU College of Business and Technology’s Hall of Distinction for his achievements over two decades in building sales teams and developing leaders.
Generations of Beta Omicron Chapter initiates and their families enjoyed beautiful weather for tailgating at the Pi Kapp tent prior to the Homecoming game versus Nicholls State University.
At halftime, three Pi Kappa Phi members were recognized as part of the 2026 Homecoming Honor Court.
Owen Stutzman of Gonzales, K.C. Thompson of Sulphur, Keith Gallagher of Blanchard were among the 22 students named to this year’s court. Stutzman was also named 2026 Mister Northwestern State University.
Stutzman is a senior accounting major. In addition to serving as archon for the Beta Omicron Chapter, he is also involved with the Interfraternity Council and the Order of Omega. He was in the President’s Leadership Program and was a freshman orientation leader. Stutzman is a member of Demon Volunteers in Progress, the Blue Key and Alpha Lambda Delta honor societies and Beta Alpha Psi.
Gallagher is a junior mathematics and biology major. Outside of serving as Pi Kapp’s Treasurer, he is also a member of the Order of Omega. Gallagher is a member of Blue Key Honor Society, Alpha Lambda Delta, Tri Beta Biological Honor Society. He is president of the NSU fishing team and has been a presidential ambassador.
Thompson is a junior communication major who is also involved in Alpha Beta Alpha. Thompson is active in the Student Activities Board, a member of the Society of Professional Journalists, the Current Sauce, and is co-captain of the NSU Cycling Club.
Stutzman’s announcement as the 70th Mister NSU is part of a long tradition of student leadership that dates back to 1956.
Mr. and Miss NSU are elected by the student body each fall. To qualify for the ballot, candidates must be full-time seniors in good standing with at least a 3.0 cumulative grade point average and receive nominations from at least five certified recognized student organizations.
Stutzman said he never expected to be selected as Mr. NSU and has focused his time at NSU on serving the university and its students.
“I’ve always just been the guy who wants to give back to Northwestern and keep serving,” Stutzman said. “I love everybody at Northwestern, and I have had such an amazing experience, so it’s been such an honor.”
During his time at NSU, Stutzman has held leadership roles in Freshman Connection, Pi Kappa Phi, the Interfraternity Council, Blue Key Honor Society and Order of Omega. He served on Freshman Connection in 2024 and 2025 before becoming student coordinator in 2026 and has also been involved in Demon VIP, Beta Alpha Psi, Alpha Lambda Delta and the President’s Leadership Program.
Through Pi Kappa Phi’s philanthropic efforts with The Ability Experience, Stutzman raised $7,500 individually and contributed to more than $50,000 raised collectively during his time at NSU.
He said being part of the 70-year tradition has made him reflect on the generations of student leaders who have represented the university.
“It blows my mind that there are 70 individual students that have been selected for Mr. and Miss NSU,” Stutzman said. “I really think about all of the student leaders that Northwestern has created for so long. Northwestern has such a unique ability to create student leaders.”
Stuzman joins five other Pi Kappa Phi initiates as recipients of the ‘Mr. NSU’ honor: Jonatan Jimenez in 2022, Char Wilson in 2019, Jake Bryan in 2012, Roland McKneely, Jr. in 1961, and L.C. Cathey in 1960.
