Pi Kapp alum, NSU professor honored as teacher of the year

Northwestern State University recognized Jody Biscoe with an Excellence in Teaching Award at the school’s annual Faculty Institute.

Biscoe, an alumnus of the Beta Omicron Chapter of Pi Kappa Phi Fraternity, was recognized alongside four other colleagues on August 14.

Faculty members from each college were warded for demonstrating a commitment to student in and outside the classroom.

Biscoe works in the Gallaspy Family College of Education and Human Development as an associate professor of psychology & addiction studies in the Department of Psychology. He also serves as director of the Louisiana Addiction Technology Transfer Center, coordinator of Addiction Studies, coordinator for the Substance Abuse concentration, and coordinator for the Prevention concentration at NSU.

He is also very involved in the athletics program at NSU. Since 2006, he has served as Faculty Athletic Representative (FAR), which includes the role as chairperson for the NSU Athletic Council. Currently, Jody serves as the chairperson for the Southland Conference Faculty Athlete Representatives and is a member of both the Compliance and Awards Committees.
