How many people can claim to have more than one life-changing experience in a single summer? Northwestern State University sophomore Dalton Randolph can.

Fur, friends, and tail-wagging fun came together at Northwestern State University for a unique philanthropic event on Wednesday. Pi Kappa Phi Fraternity sponsored ‘The Puppy Experience,’ an opportunity for students to take a break from mid-term exams, hang out with adorable pups, and support two great causes.

Alayni Guidry has been named the 2014 Northwestern State University Miss Push America. The annual pageant, held October 21, is an outreach project of Pi Kappa Phi Fraternity, which aims to raise awareness on behalf of people with disabilities.

Members of Pi Kappa Phi Fraternity and Sigma Sigma Sigma Sorority are keeping alive the spirit of service embodied by Northwestern State University alumna Sharon Sampité with their 6th annual cycling trek across Natchitoches Parish.

The cycling trek lasts only two weeks, but the memories made along the 800-miles of Gear Up Florida’s route won’t soon forget Pi Kappa Phi members like Sean Austin. The Northwestern State University junior was among 36 cyclists and crew members riding across the State of Florida to re-shape the perception of people with disabilities.

Two Northwestern State University Greek organizations will honor the memory of deceased alumni by completing an annual cycling trek across Natchitoches Parish during this year’s Homecoming events. Members of Pi Kappa Phi Fraternity and Sigma Sigma Sigma Sorority will ride in memory of the late Sharon Sampité and the late Joe Sampité to raise funds for the Sharon Sampité, John and Allison Van Hoof Educational Scholarship administered through the NSU Foundation and the Sampité Family Baseball Scholarship administered through the NSU Athletic Association.

Their campout may not have taken them far from home, but the message that accompanies Pi Kappa Phi’s scaffold sit will travel across the Northwestern State University campus. Members of the fraternity took turns perched atop a construction scaffold in front of the chapter house from September 24-25, 2012.

On May 13, 2012, this 800-mile cycling event kicked off on the shores of Miami, traveled through the Florida orange fields, reached the Gulf coast, passed through Orlando, wound back to the Atlantic coast and culminated at the State Capitol in Tallahassee.
